I went looking for a problem worth solving. The trades handed me one nobody had bothered to fix.
Variation Vault is independent, built in Ireland, and made for exactly one job — getting your extra work approved and proven, so you actually get paid for it.

I’m Cozmin Fatul, and I’ll be straight with you from the first line: I’ve never been on the tools. I’m not going to dress this up as a hard-hat origin story. I build software — and a while back I went looking for a real problem to solve. Not another app nobody asked for. Something that was actually costing people money.
So I started talking to tradespeople. Bathroom fitters, electricians, kitchen installers, small builders. And the same thing came up in nearly every single conversation — usually with a sigh and a shake of the head.
Extras.
The ‘while you’re here, can you just…’ that gets agreed on a nod. Done in good faith. And then disputed the second the invoice lands.
The pattern was always identical. A ‘yeah, sounds good’ buried three days deep in WhatsApp. A photo lost somewhere in the camera roll. Nothing solid to actually bill on. So the tradesperson swallows the cost — or has the awkward conversation that sours the whole job and puts the review at risk. Real work, already done, just… not paid for.
And here’s the part that genuinely got under my skin: nobody had built them a decent fix. The big job-management platforms are made for firms with office staff and back-office admin — useless if you’re the one stood in someone’s half-finished bathroom with your phone in your pocket. Nobody had made the simple thing. The thing you could actually use on site, in the moment the extra comes up.
So I built it.
Variation Vault captures the extra, sends your customer a clear approval link — price, VAT, timing, photos, all of it — and keeps the proof attached to the job. They approve it on their phone. It’s saved, timestamped, done. No argument, because there’s nothing left to argue about.
I’m not going to pretend I’ve earned a living swinging a hammer. I haven’t. But I listened — properly, to a lot of people who have — and I built exactly the thing they told me they needed. Nothing more, nothing they’d never use.
One job, done properly. That’s the whole point of it.
What Variation Vault believes
Four things I won’t compromise on.
One job, done properly.
This isn’t invoicing software. It isn’t a CRM. It captures extras, gets them approved, and keeps the proof. That’s it — and that’s deliberate.

Where we’re at
Variation Vault is early, and it’s independent — built in Ireland, made for residential trades across Ireland and the UK, not a faceless app hiding behind a logo. If you’ve got a question, a problem, or you think something should work better, you’ll be talking to the person who actually built it. Cozmin Fatul.
